Recycle used computers and electronics: Goodwill Industries International has partnered with Dell to form Reconnect, a program allowing
consumers to donate their used, unwanted electronic equipment. Individuals who
drop off their computer equipment at one of the over 1,900 participating ReConnect locations will receive a tax receipt, regardless
of the brand and condition of the equipment. Donated equipment will be resold and devices in need of repair will either be
refurbished or broken down into parts to be recycled by Dell partners.

Purchasing new
equipment: When you purchase new electronics, find out if the manufacturer or retailer offers e-waste recycling. Many
will accept their brand for free. In addition to “traditional” recycling programs, some electronics manufacturers
and retailers also offer e-waste recycling. Many manufacturer-sponsored programs will accept and process their brand for free.
Some accept other brands for a small fee.
Leasing: More
and more manufacturers are offering leasing options. This can be a great alternative
if you plan to upgrade frequently. Keeping up with the latest and greatest products and apps, doesn’t get easier than
this.
